Free Construction Stormwater Management Practices Seminar, at Ferndale City Hall (2095 Main Street, Ferndale) Wednesday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch included.
Join the North Sound Baykeeper, the Skagit Conservation Education Alliance, and stormwater inspectors from the Washington State Department of Ecology for a special classroom and field training on stormwater pollution and prevention.
Numerous construction sites exist around Skagit and Whatcom County that have the potential to pollute our streams and estuaries, making it difficult for fish to reproduce and thrive.
Participants will learn:
- How to apply for a stormwater permit;
- Requirements for keeping construction sites in compliance;
- Reporting and sampling requirements;
- Effective erosion control techniques;
- How to implement work zone phasing to keep sediment from eaching nearby waters.
